The digitalization of our system offers many benefits which conventional vending machines do not.
The following additional options are possible with the FarmVend system:
Minimum durability date
The operator is asked to insert the properties of the product into the system e.g. ingredients, allergens, to facilitate the purchase for the customer.
Products with a limited durability need to receive a minimum durability date. As soon as this date is exceeded, the product is blocked automatically by the system and cannot be bought any more.
After entering a new product into the system, a lot of fields have to be defined like the name or the quantity, but also the price. As an example, 250ml strawberry yoghurt of the brand Müller cost 2,50€.
This product is stored in the system, meaning when refilling the vending machine, only the quantity needs to be corrected.
One shelf is loaded consecutively with the same product because the price and the product does not change.
It happens to be different, when products naturally vary in their weight or cannot be packaged in the exact same amount. The best example is fish. Through the FarmVend system, the price can be tied to the weight.
In order to solve this problem, the operator needs to define the price for the maximum weight. This is the initial price for every other piece. The initial weight is e.g. 1kg for 10€. When filling the vending machine, the weight for every piece is entered to the system.
Maria buys a fish through the FarmVend vending machine. She pays 10€ for 1 kg of fish. When the fish is dispensed, the actual weight is registered by the system. The fish weighs 800g, Maria would have paid 8€. The differential amount of 2€ is credited on the receipt. Maria could either pick up the money directly at the payment terminal or use the 2€ for the next purchase at the micro market.
Another field which needs to be defined when entering a new product is the age which the customer needs to have, to be allowed to buy the product. This function enables the vending machine to sell products which are tied to a specific age. Moreover, the advantage of this function is to present a form of authority to abide legal regulations.
For the purpose of checking the age, the hardware tool can be added to the payment terminal. The customer puts the ID (E-card, driving license, …) into the card reader. The birth date is filtered out by the device and identifies the age of the customer. After fulfilling the age requirements, the product is available for the purchase.
For the purpose of saving costs but also to combine the loyalty of customers and popularity of various farms, partner can team up to invest together into a micro market.
With the “multi-operator” function, the levels in the vending machine can be divided by the operators. Therefore, each operator can fill their level within one vending machine, or each operator fills one vending machine within the micro market. The FarmVend software provides a separate billing for each operator.
The benefit for the customer is to receive the products from different farms and suppliers at one central place. Moreover, the payment terminal can filter by supplier. Hence, only the products from the preferred supplier are shown. If the customer buys products from different suppliers, it is listed on the receipt, if necessary, there is a receipt printed for every supplier.
Difference of multi-operator and dealer
The micro market can also be operated by one dealer who buys the products from different suppliers. It is important that the dealer owns a dealer license, farmers who only sell their own products, don’t need a license. (Austrian law)
Therefore, different products are available at the micro market, the dealer is responsible for the product range and re-filling of the market. The difference for the customer is barely noticeable just that in the end of the order and payment process, there is only one receipt printed.
On the other hand, multi-operators need to take care of the storage and filling of each by themselves.
If the micro market is placed indoors, the access to it can be controlled with a security door.
The operator can
- Limit the opening hours,
- Set conditions for the access e.g. after a specific time only customers with loyalty card can enter the shop, regulating the access to specific rooms e.g. the unattended self-service room.
The operator can freely change and regulate this function. The security door is a security function for the operator, to regulate and control the access, especially during night hours.
